Description

The Dok Ngiew Kham Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Ton Pheung District, Bokeo Province, is a 3,000-hectare multi-sector development comprising trade, tourism, industrial, and smart agriculture components. Developed by Dok Ngiew Kham Group with 80% Chinese and 20% Lao ownership, the SEZ is strategically located near the Golden Triangle, close to the borders of Thailand and Myanmar. Connected Consultant Sole Co., Ltd. conducted the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), assessing impacts on natural habitats, cross-border trade activities, local communities, and agricultural land conversion. The ESIA also addressed solid waste, energy, and water infrastructure. Public consultations helped ensure that the SEZ development aligns with community needs, environmental sustainability, and Lao PDR’s goals for border economy integration.
