Description
The Chiangman–Luang Prabang Bridge Construction Project is a NEDA-financed initiative designed to connect Muang Kham Village in Chomphet District with Luang Prabang City via a new bridge across the Mekong River. The project facilitates regional integration by linking to the 114-kilometer road connecting Hongsa District to Nan Province in Thailand. Currently, travel across the Mekong in this area relies on ferry service at Chiangman Village, leading to delays. Connected Consultant Sole Co., Ltd., commissioned by STS Engineering Consultant Co., Ltd., was responsible for preparing the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP). These assessments addressed potential impacts on river ecosystems, resettlement, and tourism, ensuring alignment with Lao environmental regulations and Thai-Lao bilateral cooperation frameworks.
