Description

The Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Farming Project is an innovative circular economy initiative located in Vientiane Capital. Led by Clinsect Lao Co., Ltd.—a joint venture between Clinsect Holdings (Singapore) and XP Lao Co., Ltd.—the project aims to recycle organic waste, primarily from breweries and starch factories, into insect protein for animal feed and high-quality biofertilizer. With USD 1 million in private investment, the BSF facility will process up to 100 tons of waste every 10 days, producing insect meal and organic fertilizer through a zero-waste, closed-loop process. Connected Consultant Sole Co., Ltd. conducted the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), which confirmed the project’s alignment with Lao PDR’s green growth strategy. The ESIA assessed impacts on local ecosystems, air and water quality, labor conditions, and community health. The project not only addresses food and agricultural waste challenges but also contributes to sustainable agriculture and rural livelihoods.
