Description
The Gold, Tin, Zinc, Iron, and Silver Mining and Processing Project located in Hinboun District, Khammouane Province, is led by Bor-Neng Mining Development Co., Ltd., a Lao-Russian joint venture supported by private Chinese investment. The project, which operates under a mining agreement with the Government of Lao PDR, spans a 14.58 km² concession area and focuses on the extraction and processing of multiple minerals. Following changes in mining scope and project expansion, Connected Consultant Sole Co., Ltd. was contracted to prepare a revised Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA). The assessment examined potential impacts on water resources, biodiversity, local land use, and nearby communities, including health and safety concerns related to mineral processing. Special attention was given to cumulative impacts, community consultations, and compliance with Lao PDR’s evolving environmental regulations. The ESIA proposed a robust mitigation and monitoring framework to ensure responsible mining operations.
