Description
The Improvement and Maintenance of National Road 13 South (Km71–Km346) is a major infrastructure project spanning 275 kilometers across Borikhamxay and Khammouane Provinces. Co-financed by the World Bank, AIIB, and EIB, the project aims to upgrade pavement, drainage, and safety features on this crucial section of the country’s north-south highway corridor. Connected Consultant Sole Co., Ltd. was engaged to prepare a full suite of environmental and social safeguard documents, including the Initial Environmental Examination (IEE), Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP), Resettlement Plan (RP), Ethnic Group Engagement Plan (EGEP), and Gender Action Plan (GAP). These documents ensured that the project could be implemented with minimal adverse impacts on local populations and ecosystems, while maximizing road safety, employment, and economic benefits for women, ethnic minorities, and other vulnerable groups.
